HMMWV M1114
The HMMWV M1114 (Up-Armored Humvee) is a variant of the Humvee family specifically designed to better protect its crew and systems. The vehicle sports a 360-degree traversable weapon ring mount, which can accommodate the Browning M2HB .50 caliber machine gun, M240 or M60 7.62 general purpose machine gun, M249 5.56 mm SAW, or Mk 19 Mod 3 40 mm automatic grenade launcher. The HMMWV first saw action in 1989 when the United States invaded Panama and has been employed extensively since, especially in Iraq.
The HMMWV M1114 was manufactured by AM General and O’Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt Armoring Company; it was introduced to the field in 1996. The M1114 possesses a more powerful turbocharged engine than other variants, and more important, it features a fully armored area inside that is enhanced by hardened steel and bullet-resistant glass. At top speed, a HMMWV can travel faster than 65 mph.
