LAV
The LAV is an eight-wheeled light armored vehicle deployed by the United States Marine Corps. It is often utilized during reconnaissance and raiding and screening missions. The LAV’s primary armament is a M242 Bushmaster 25 mm chain gun, though it also carries two FN MAG 7.62 mm machine guns. It’s operated by a crew of 3 and can carry 6 fully-equipped infantry.
The LAV was produced by General Dynamics Land Systems Canada, based on the Swiss MOWAG Piranha I 8x8 family of vehicles. It has been in service since 1983. LAV variants include the LAV-25 (the baseline version), LAV-25 A1, and LAV-25 A2. Derivatives like the LAV-AT (Anti-Tank), LAV-M (Mortar), and LAV-AD (Air Defense) also exist. The LAV has an operational range of 410 miles and can achieve a speed of 62 mph.
