FHTV
The Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) transport cargo to supply other combat vehicles and weapon systems. The Palletized Load System (PLS) and the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT) make up the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles. The PLS is a 16.5 ton, 10 wheel truck, whereas the HEMTT is a 10 ton, 8 wheel vehicle.
The primary producer of FHTVs is the Oshkosh Corporation. The PLS entered service in 1993 and the HEMTT in 1982. The PLS works in tandem with transportation and ammunition units, while the HEMTT assists forces like the M1 Abrams and Stryker.
