F-16 FALCON
The F-16 is a supersonic aircraft with a single engine. It is a dogfighter with all-weather capabilities. It features a frameless bubble canopy and a side-mounted control stick. The Fighting Falcon possesses an internal M61 Vulcan cannon and boasts 11 hardpoints for securing weapons and other equipment.
The F-16 entered service in 1978 and was developed by General Dynamics, who sold its aircraft manufacturing business to the Lockheed Corporation in 1993. Lockheed merged with Martin Marietta in 1995 to become Lockheed Martin. The F-16 can pull 9-g maneuvers and is capable of reaching speeds over Mach 2. Variants include the F-16 A/B, F-16 C/D, F-16 E/F, F-16 IN, and F-16 IQ.
