AN/TWQ-1 AVENGER
The AN/TWQ-1 Avenger provides short-range, mobile air defense protection for ground units. It is armed with 4/8 FIM-92 Stinger missiles, as well as a .50 M3P machine gun. The Avenger can travel 55 mph and has an operational range of 275 miles. A crew of 5 operates the system. Boeing developed the AN/TWQ-1 in the 1980’s and it was first deployed operationally during the buildup to Operation Desert Storm.
