A-10 THUNDERBOLT
The A-10 Thunderbolt II is a twin-engine, single-seat jet aircraft that provides close air support for ground forces. It is also used for airborne forward air control. The Thunderbolt II’s primary armament is the GAU-8 Avenger and it features enough protective armor that it can continue flying despite taking heavy damage.
The A-10 Thunderbolt II was manufactured by Fairchild-Republic and it was introduced to service in 1977. The aircraft can reach speeds of 420 mph and its ceiling is 45,000 feet. Variants of the A-10 include the YA-10A, A-10A, OA-10A, YA-10B Night/Adverse Weather, and A-10C.
